Celebrating Women Achievements: BBDO Launches “Put Her on the Map” Campaign
In an attempt to increase global awareness about female accomplishments, renowned advertising agency, BBDO has launched a public awareness campaign encouraging cities and corporations to name streets, statues and buildings after influential women.
Unveiled on the final day of the 2017 MAKERS Conference, the goal of “Put Her on the Map” is to change the face of global communities, inspire future female leaders and jump-start a movement reflecting the true accomplishments of women.
The agency said though women make up 50 percent of the population, most streets, landmarks and monuments are named after men.
“Put Her on the Map” therefore challenges cities and corporations with influential ecosystems to disrupt this cycle.
While speaking on the essence of the campaign, Chief Executive Officer, BBD Worldwide Andrew Robertson said, “When successful women are not visible in our world, there is no precedent for female potential.” He added that, “By changing the map, cities and companies can change the face of our communities and inspire future female leaders.”
The “Put Her on the Map” campaign is hosted on a dedicated website, www.putheronthemap.com, encouraging people to take action by contacting their local state representatives and to spread the word via hashtag #putheronthemap.
