CBA Foundation Walk for Hope holds month end
The year 2020 edition of the annual CBA Foundation Walk for Hope will hold next week Saturday, 29th February 2020. The charity walk tagged “Walk for Hope” will flag off at exactly 7 am at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The primary objective of the charity walk is targeted at raising fund for further implementation of several other intervention program and engagements of the organisation.
According to the event organisers, to be a participant in the charity walk, interested individuals are advised to register online with payment of N7, 500 per individual.
The CBA foundation is a non-governmental charity organisation that is dedicated to promoting the protection of widows primarily, and their vulnerable children in Nigeria, and to foster immediate and lasting hope, confidence and courage in their lives.
The organisation was founded based on the calling and mandate to reach out to underprivileged widows in the society, especially children that are not privileged to enjoy or partake in what an average child would necessarily enjoy, as well as women who are disadvantaged, not empowered but have expressed the willingness, power, passion and desire to be resourceful.
Highlighting the basic objectives of the organisation in a recent interview, the Founder/CEO, Chinwe Bode-Akinwande explained that the basis of the foundation is driven out of the need to impact the lives of women who ordinarily might have lost hopes.
According to the renowned philanthropist, “We are driven to support underprivileged widows in having a positive outlook on life, despite the problems they experience by losing their loved one, mostly the breadwinner of the family”.
“I needed to leave a legacy. I want to give back and be remembered for something, a name that would easily be associated with me. By me, I mean my passion and desire to put smiles on the faces of the underprivileged widows and their children.”
On the achievements of the organisation, she pointed out that since inception, the foundation had impacted on the lives of women, several of whom are now business owners and are able to not just fend for their families but also employers of labour.
She added that well over 40 children who had lost hope in their education are currently back to school through the Foundation’s intervention programmes, payment of fees and supply of stationeries. She further disclosed that through the medical intervention programme initiated by the Foundation, about 26 underprivileged widows have been able to regain their health.
In her words: “At CBA Foundation, we believe that nurturing and caring for children is the cornerstone of human progress. CBA Foundation was created with this purpose in mind, to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination places in a child’s path.”
