Buhari felicitates with FirstBank’s MD Adeduntan on his Cranfield Alumnus achievement
Hope for any nation should not be built on illusion, but rather on a choice or decision consciously made to channel talents, energies and creativity of citizens into making that nation a land of which all could be proud of. To a greater extent, excellence is not a result of wishful thinking, sheer luck or happenstance. It is rather the culmination of concrete goals, hard and smart work aligned with those goals and judicious decisions.
According to Aristotle, “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution.” And if there is any man who has lived by the spirit and letter of the above Aristotelian dictum, it is Adesola Adeduntan, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. With the latest eminent annual alumnus award conferred on him by a British school with a pedigree stretching back in time, the financial titan has proven that education and hard work truly pay.
Felicitating with Adeduntan on his award of Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom, President Muhammadu Buhari said that the award was a vote of confidence on Nigerian professionals, many of who rank among the very best in the world, adding that it was also an endorsement that should make every Nigerian proud.
Cranfield School of Management had on January 1 announced the winners of its 2020 Alumni Awards in four categories, including Dr. Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan (MBA 2005) – Distinguished Alumnus of the Year; Eyal Ben-Cohen (MBA 2004) – Entrepreneur Alumnus of the Year Award; Lucie Basch (MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management 2014) – Excellence in Achievement Award for Recent Graduates; and Christopher Ballnath (MSc Finance and Management 2006) – Alumni Service Award.
The Cranfield School of Management Annual Alumni Awards recognise special achievements and contributions of alumni and provide Cranfield with an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate those who exemplify the values of the school.
The awards also allow the school to showcase the impact of Cranfield globally and highlight the accomplishments of individuals who may serve as role models to other alumni, students and potential students.
According to a statement from the university, “Recipients will be formally presented with their awards on 30 January 2020 at a celebratory dinner in London to be hosted by the Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor of Cranfield University, Sir Peter Gregson, and Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of Cranfield School of Management, Prof. David Oglethorpe.”
Adeduntan attended Cranfield School of Management as British Chevening Scholar. He’s also a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Banking of Nigeria (CIBN) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
The recent conferment of the significant award on Adeduntan by Cranfield School of Management confirms this great man’s learning, diligence and achievement, and serves as role model to Nigerian students and potential students.
