EXMAN boss tasks FG on insecurity, infrastructure development
President of the Experiential Marketing Association of Nigeria (EXMAN), Tade Adekunle, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the rising spate of insecurity in the country as well as improve upon the poor state of infrastructure.
Adekunle who made the call while speaking in an exclusive interview with MARKETING EDGE in Lagos observed that insecurity in the country had assumed a worrisome dimension, especially when considering the audacity at which most of the violent crimes were been carried out.
The EXMAN boss added that the government needs to take serious measure towards improving on infrastructure in order to make the country friendlier to business as well as attract foreign investors.
He wondered how the government could make possible its goal of bringing 10 million people out of poverty in ten years in the face of gross insecurity and poor power supply coupled with bad roads in the country.
“I’m of the opinion that insecurity is not being addressed in the country right now. It’s like sitting on a time bomb. And like they say, insecurity knows no tribe; it knows no rich man or poor man. Neither does it know children nor adult. In fact, it knows no religion.
“Government needs to improve upon infrastructure and, most importantly, tackle the issue of insecurity. This is because the audacity with which some of these things are happening is becoming too overwhelming. So, government needs to take responsibility. It’s the responsibility of government to secure the citizens.”
Adekunle, however, questioned the feasibility of the much touted poverty reduction by the said government.
“If government says it wants to bring 10 million people out of poverty and if the country is not secure, development becomes minimal. Foreign investment or even local investment will suffer; how then will it take people out of poverty?” he asked.
