Marketing Edge is delighted to spotlight another formidable voice confirmed for this year’s panel; Kelechi Nwosu, Non-Executive Director and shareholder at TBWA\Concept Unit Nigeria, and one of the most consequential figures in Nigerian advertising over the past two decades.

The summit holds virtually on Thursday, September 24, 2026, via Zoom, themed “Cultural Authenticity as Currency: Turning Heritage into Modern Branding and Marketing.” Few voices in Nigeria’s marketing communications industry are better placed to speak to that theme than Kelechi Nwosu; a leader whose mist defining work was built at precisely the intersection of culture, commerce, and creative disruption.

Nwosu led TBWA\Concept Unit as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer from 2005 until July 1, 2026, a tenure of over two decades that transformed the agency from a strong creative organisation into one of Nigeria’s most culturally significant advertising institutions. Under his leadership, TBWA\Concept Unit delivered landmark campaigns that fused culture and commerce in wats that set new standards for the Nigerian advertising industry. Spirit of Lagos, an ambitious initiative designed to align civic infrastructure with the citizen mindset, and Proudly Made in Aba, developed with support from the Ford Foundation and the Abia State Government to spotlight Nigeria’s indigenous manufacturing capacity, stand as two of the most culturally resonant campaign in Nigerian advertising history.

Both campaign are now assets owned by the agency; a deliberate philosophical choice that speaks to Nwosu’s belief that advertising agencies must move beyond being service vendors and become custodians of intellectual property with lasting commercial and cultural value.

TBWA\Concept Unit itself, founded in 1984 by Lere Awokoya and Kayode Idowu, has earned global recognition under Nwosu’s stewardship, named Global Agency of the Year in 2021 and recognised as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies from 2018 to 2022. The agency’s work for clients including MTN Nigeria, BetKing and Stanbic IBTC has consistently demonstrated that Nigerian creative thinking, when rooted in authentic cultural intelligence, can produce commercial outcomes that compete on the global stage.

In July 2026, Nwosu transitioned from executive leadership to the TBWA\Concept Unit board as Non-Executive Director and shareholder, a move that reflects not retirement but evolution. The agency’s new CEO, George Isitua-Onukwu, inherits a platform that Nwosu built on unconventional thinking and a conviction that culture is not a backdrop for advertising but its most powerful engine.

“TBWA\Concept Unit was founded on unconventional thinking. We have always been a strong creative organisation, moving products and ideas for ourselves and for clients,” Nwosu said at the announcement of the leadership transition. “From July 1, the mantle passes to George. We will continue to evolve despite the current business headwinds.”

For a summit exploring how cultural heritage translates into modern brand value and commercial power, Kelechi Nwosu brings something that cannot be manufactured, the authority of a practitioner who spent twenty years proving it.

The 2026 Marketing Edge National Marketing Stakehokders’ Summit promises to be the defining industry conversation of the year. Kelechi Nwosu will be one of the voices that makes it so.
