AAAN assures on take-off of advertising academy
…stakeholders fault delay
President of Association of Adverting Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Mr. Kayode Oluwasona, has assured stakeholders in the advertising industry that the launch of the adverting academy would soon take place as plans were on top gear for the event.
Oluwasona’s pledge is coming on the heels of stakeholders ‘criticisms over the alleged delay in the commencement of the academy, as many members of the association have expressed doubt on the reality of the project.
Speaking to MARKETING EDGE, the AAAN president stressed that all the necessary modalities had been put in place to make sure the launch of the academy comes on board in the next few months.
He said: ”The Advertising Academy is up and will soon be running. We are putting all modalities together for the launch of the academy and I assure you, it will soon be running.”
Speaking on the planned academy, Managing Director of Noah’s Ark, Mr. Lanre Adisa,who also decried the lack of young advertising talents in the industry, said that the academy if functional and through its training programmes, would help in improving the quality of practitioners.
Adisa explained that the AAAN had promised to set up the academy to train more talents on the industry but decried the delay in the take-off of the institution.
According to him,:”Part of the problem that we are facing is the fact that we are not creating enough room for training, you go to other countries where things are thriving better, you can see that there is a constant improvement of talents because they are creating the platform for that to happen.”
“We have been at it for a long time and we are hoping that things could get better. I think probably the last AAAN administration announced the take-off of the advertising academy, but even the take-off is yet to really get into motion as it were but again, we are all in this together, it is in our interest for that to happen because this game is a game of talents and the younger they come, the better, so that is where the key issue is”. Adisa added.
Earlier, AAAN appointed a veteran adman, Mr. Joachim Atunwa as the Rector of the academy which was expected to begin in March 2016.
