Yaw emerges Outstanding On Air Personality of the Decade

Veteran broadcaster, comedian, and actor Steve Onu popularly known as ‘Yaw’ has been honoured with MARKETING EDGE Outstanding On Air Personality of the Decade Award at the recently concluded Marketing Edge Awards of Excellence.
The event which held in the heart of Ikeja on Friday 27th of August 2021, was graced by the presence of Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other heroes in Nigeria’s Integrated Marketing Communications industry.
Steve Onu is a talented broadcaster and movie producer with over two decades of professional experience spanning film production, radio production, broadcasting, acting, and all round entertainment. He has worked extensively with 95.1 Wazobia FM, BBC, and has won over 70 Awards in the past 25 years.
“I think this is one of the biggest awards I have ever received,” Yaw said, while expressing his gratitude to MARKETING EDGE for the honour bestowed upon him. “To be honoured by MARKETING EDGE as Outstanding OAP of the Decade is a huge feat as it reflects my profound love for the communications industry and selfless dedication since I joined.”
He further submitted that MARKETING EDGE Awards has carved a niche for itself as a platform which can conveniently bring together the biggest names in the marketing and advertising ecosystem.
With over 30 million listeners pan-Nigeria, the award winning broadcaster kicked off his career journey in broadcasting when he joined 95.1 Wazobia FM in 2007 as an on air personality. In 2012, Yaw was the only comedian/on Air Personality to be chosen alongside other notable Nigerians as an Olympic Torch bearer for the London 2012 Olympics; a United Nations Young Ambassador for Peace; the UN Face of Peace (2012); and was honoured amongst the top 100 notable Nigerians by his Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan. He also stars as a leading character in the popular sitcom ‘My Flatmates’ alongside Basketmouth, Buchi, and Kayode Peters.
Yaw has produced several successful movies and shows including Smash, Divorce, Pandora Box, After Party, Tattoo Beach Party, Groove and Giggle and his yearly stage plays, Po! (2014), Private Lies (2013), Last Molue (2011), April Fool (2012), Shalanga (2016), Apere (2017), Funnybone Untamed 3 (2018)& 4 (2019), Kenny Blaq OXYMORON SHOW (2017), Juliet Ibrahim book launch(2019), Tattoo Beach Party, Groove and Giggle and his yearly stage plays,Po! (2014), Private Lies (2013), Last Molue(2011), April Fool(2012), Shalanga(2016) and Apere(2017), Ajebo– My girls & I (2018), what women want (2019), Uli Music Festival 2018 & 2019, OBA Music Carnival 2019, and his television sitcom–Yaws n Myn through his production company, Yawnaija Entertainment.
