Wema Bank to train 100,000 Ekiti youths with digital skill

Wema Bank Plc has forged a partnership with Ekiti State government to train 100,000 youths and women with digital and business management skills.
The initiative is expected to provide training for selected individuals in all the categories of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) that are operating in the state.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Kayode Fasae during an interactive session with newsmen in the state capital on Tuesday.
The Commissioner who reintrated the government’s commitment to Youths empowerment in the state revealed that the programme is designed to address poor business management skills, lack of access to fund, information, target market among others.
Fasae also recalled how the bank had previously sponsored the training of 2500 youths in Agricbusiness, saying that his ministry is ready to maximize the deliverables of the programme and upcoming schemes to serve as veritable intervention for skill development.
Also commending the initiative, his counterpart in the ministry of information, Taiwo Olatunbosun said it was part of efforts to breath life into the campaign promises of Governor Biodun Oyebanji. The commissioner for Information further noted that the state government would continue to ensure that youths are given a place of pride in the state.
In his remark, the regional manager of Wema Bank Plc, Niyi Owaduge, said that the bank would continue to partner Ekiti State government and support all the initiatives that would better the lives of Ekiti people.
Similarly speaking, the Bank’s Head of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Arthur Nkemeh stated that the initiative was about improving the Nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GPD), and productivity for revenue generation.
He also confirmed that under the programme, 100,000 youths would be trained and empowered in different vocations, including transferable digital skills.
