Wema Bank partners FG to establish digital and skillnovation hubs

In a bid to empower Nigerian youths with digital and relevant skills, Wema Bank, Nigeria’s leading innovative bank, has partnered with the Federal Government of Nigeria to establish the FGN/ALAT digital and Skillnovation Hubs across the country.
The partnership was solidified during a meeting held in Abuja recently, where representatives of the bank and vice president Kashim Shettima discussed the importance of equipping young Nigerians with skills for the job market. This collaboration reflects the shared vision of both entities to promote youth empowerment and drive economic growth through skills development.
Mr Moruf Oseni, Wema Bank’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, stated that the innovative initiative is tailored to bring reform and fresh perspectives to the approach Nigerian youths have been engaging with technology, entrepreneurship and skill development.
“The Digital and Skillnovation Hub reflects our dedication to fostering a thriving ecosystem that empowers tech-savvy youth entrepreneurs, youth entrepreneurs by nature, and young employees, driving economic growth and sustainable progress across the nation. This centralized platform will integrate cutting-edge digital tools, technologies, and resources to streamline digital activities, collaboration, and information sharing,” he said.
Commenting on the partnership, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the significance of the FGN/ALAT Digital and Skillnovation Hub in creating opportunities for Nigerian youths.
“We believe that by empowering our young people with digital skills, we are preparing them for jobs of the future and positioning Nigeria as a digital powerhouse in Africa,” he said.
As part of the initiative, the digital and skill innovation hubs will be established across various states in Nigeria. These hubs will serve as platforms for young Nigerians to acquire digital skills and other relevant competencies that are in high demand across different industries.
Olusegun Adeniyi, a renowned economist, hailed the collaboration between Wema Bank and the Nigerian government, stating, “This partnership is a step in the right direction towards addressing the unemployment challenge in Nigeria. By focusing on digital skills, we are equipping our youth with the tools they need to succeed in today’s digital-driven world.”
The FGN/ALAT Digital and Skillnovation Hub is set to provide a conducive environment for learning and skills acquisition, and foster entrepreneurship and innovation among Nigerian youths. By equipping one million young individuals with digital and relevant skills, the initiative aims to transform the job market and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
