Twitter to unveil voice/video chat, encrypted DM V1.0

Elon Musk, Twitter CEO has announced on the official page of the microblogging site that he will unveil the latest version of the app that will allow users to reply to DM replies to any message in a thread.
The tweet read: “With latest version of the app, you can DM reply to any message in the thread (not just the most recent) and use any emoji reaction. Release of encrypted DMs V1.0 should happen tomorrow.”
Musk claimed that the new development will allow rapid growth of the app, while adding that voice and video chat will be unveiled soon.
“This will grow in sophistication rapidly. The acid test is that I could not see your DMs even if there was a gun to my head. Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number,” he said.
The tweet with over 14.3M views has sparked mixed reactions from twitter users, some of which were excited while others still believe Elon has not done enough since he bought the app.

A twitter user with the handle @AltocoinGlitz wrote: “People don’t realize how huge this is. Encrypted DMs is a huge upgrade for twitter. Having to do everything in one app is the goal and I’m sure you will achieve it.”

Kristen Ruby, AI & Social Media Analyst, said: “If you can’t see DMs then how will the FBI be able to see DMs pertaining to illegal child pornography? This feels important. I applaud the feature – but do want to understand what this means. Will this make it more challenging for law enforcement to catch those engaged in illegal activity pertaining to children?”

Meanwhile, a twitter user with the handle @foaddabiri, claims that WhatsApp has been using a background microphone to listen to him while asleep.
His words: “WhatsApp has been using the microphone in the background, while I was asleep and since I woke up at 6AM (and that’s just a part of the timeline!) What’s going on?”
Musk responded and said: “WhatsApp cannot be trusted.”
