The Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) is making significant strides in its commitment to the Nigerian market, announcing plans to achieve 15 hotels across the country by 2025. Since its inaugural hotel, Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in 2006, RHG has been strategically expanding its portfolio and fostering human capital development.
With a current portfolio of 12 hotels in operation and under development, the latest addition is the Radisson Hotel Benin City, a 169-room hotel set to open within the next 12 months. Positioned in the prime Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Benin City, the hotel is strategically located just five minutes from the Benin Airport, providing easy accessibility through the Benin-Sapele roads.
The Radisson Hotel Benin City offers a range of Scandinavian-inspired accommodations, from standard rooms to executive suites, including a presidential suite. Its facilities include a lobby bar and café, an all-day dining restaurant, a pool bar, and grill, along with a gym and spa for guests’ relaxation.
Erwan Garnier, Senior Director of Development for Africa at Radisson Hotel Group, emphasized the strategic importance of Benin City in the group’s growth strategy for Nigeria. He stated, “The Radisson Hotel Benin City will reinforce our brand awareness in Nigeria, playing a significant role in promoting tourism and business activities within Benin City and the broader Edo State.”
The signing ceremony in Benin City witnessed the participation of Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State, who highlighted the project’s role in fostering economic growth and transforming the state’s landscape. Adaze Kalu, Commissioner for Finance, Edo State, added, “The Edo Radisson Hotel project will position Edo State as a destination for capital, shaping the perception of Edo State in the eyes of the world.”
RHG’s commitment to Nigeria is reflected in its 5-year growth plan, aiming to reach 150 hotels across Africa by 2027. In 2023 alone, the group has signed eight hotels in Nigeria, contributing over 1600 rooms to its African portfolio, with around 50 percent of the signings occurring in Nigeria.
The Radisson brand, known for its upscale Scandinavian-inspired hospitality, is set to debut in Benin City. With a focus on creating harmony in travel experiences, Radisson hotels aim to provide a comfortable and satisfying stay for guests. The group’s extensive presence in 34 African countries underscores its commitment to the continent’s hospitality industry.
Garnier concluded by expressing optimism about the future, stating, “We aim for more in the years to come,” highlighting RHG’s dedication to the continued growth and success of its presence in Nigeria.
