Okiemute wins MTN Project Fame Season 9
The season nine of the MTN Project Fame came to a rousing end on Saturday, and when the curtains fell, it was the 25-year-old Okiemute Ighorodje who emerged the last woman standing.
Okiemute triumph didn’t come as a surprise to many because of her consistency and energetic performances week after week. And for her effort, she smiled home with a grand price of N5 million, a brand new SUV, and a music recording contract worth about N20million.
As soon as she was declared winner Okemute, who had earlier been tipped by many to win the show, erupted in an ecstasy of joy and celebration, and she was soon joined by her mother and other members of her family who wriggled in jubilation amidst the frenzy in the hall.
Okiemute is a Linguistics & Communications graduate from University of Port Harcourt. She emerged winner after the 8-week highly competitive contest that saw good performances by many of the contestants.
Okiemute, who auditioned in Port Harcourt, used to have a career in modeling, but lately she is following her passion as a band lead singer. She is from a family of six, and the third of four girls. Okiemute credits her journey into music to one of her sisters, whom she said was always quick to put her at the fore front of any music-related activity.
A first timer on Project Fame, Okiemute made the decision to participate this season because she was certain she had built enough confidence to win the competition.
