Nestle Health Science set to acquire Nuun

Nestlé Health Science, a subsidiary of Nestle, a leading food and beverage company, has concluded arrangements for the acquisition of Nuun, a leader in functional hydration supplement brand.

The acquisition will see to the realisation of Nestlé Health Science’s existing broad portfolio of active lifestyle nutrition brands complimented with Nuun’s range of clean, low-sugar, effervescent tablets and powders.

Speaking on the acquisition, CEO of Nestlé Health Science, Greg Behar said: “Every day, health-conscious consumers are becoming more aware of how functional hydration products can add to their overall well-being as well as support them during exercise by replacing the minerals that the body loses. That growing awareness is reflected in the steady growth of the category.”

Reacting also, CEO of Nuun, Kevin Rutherford, said: “Nestlé Health Science and Nuun share the same philosophy: nothing is more important than health and well-being.”

Nuun, a leading provider of healthy sports hydration, was founded in Seattle and has built a loyal following of athletes and fitness enthusiasts over the past 16 years.

It pioneered the separation of electrolyte replacement from carbohydrates. It’s low-sugar electrolyte tablet then revolutionised the sports beverage market. It now has a broad range of effervescent tablets and powders containing additional minerals and vitamins for energy, relaxation and overall well-being.

The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2021.
