NAHCO Appoints New Managing Director
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (Nahco Aviance) Plc has appointed Mr. Idris Yakubu, as its new Managing Director.
This came on the heels of the recent promotion of over 846 of the company’s 2,000 workers, who constitute more than 45 per cent of its total workforce.
Prior to his new appointment as Managing Director of the ground handling company, Yakubu was an Executive Director at Skye Bank Plc.
The new MD took over from Mrs. Folashade Ode, who held the post in an acting capacity, following the exit of the former Managing Director, Mr. Norbert Bielderman, on August 31, 2017.
Ode formally handed over to Yakubu on November 20 after which she returned to her portfolio as acting MD/CEO of NAHCO EPI.
In a statement signed by its Manager, Communications and Corporate Services, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, the company said, “Yakubu joins NAHCO with a vast wealth of experience, spanning 28 years in financial management, leadership, strategy, business development, organizational change and business renewal. His most recent appointment was executive director, Skye Bank Plc., adding that “He has extensive experience in delivering agreed strategic business imperatives. A consummate professional, he is expected to take NAHCO to greater heights”.
Ajakaye, who also spoke on his company’s recent promotion exercise, noted that the promotion, which was approved by the board of directors, was one of the staff improvement programmes by the company.
He said the promotion came against the background of an economy that was still in technical recession, thus showing the importance which the company placed on its personnel.
