Guild of Photojournalists holds maiden confab/ awards amidst pomp

Nothing short of grandeur and finesse graced the just concluded Guild of Photojournalists Annual Conference and Exhibition, and awards which held at the Ikeja Business Club on Thursday, 9th December 2021 in Lagos.
The highly anticipated event was well attended by distinguished stakeholders in the industry and respected personalities including Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi,
Group Chairman, Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc.; Guest Speaker, Dr. Boye Ola, Head of General Studies, Nigerian Institute of Journalism; Fmr. General Manager, Zenith Bank, Bukky Latunji; Chief Coordinator, Tourism Klub, Segun Ola-Oyedeji; VP, Product marketing and growth, Terragon Group, Oti Ukubeyinje; Publisher/CEO, MARKETING EDGE Publications, John Ajayi, ably represented by General Marketing Manager, MARKETING EDGE Publications, Anietie Udoh, and GM Strategy and business development, MARKETING EDGE Publications, Mojisola Matesun; Photojournalism enthusiasts, and aspiring journalists from various institutions across the state.
Themed “Digital Revolution: Opportunities and Challenges of 21st Century Photojournalism”, the colorful event featured in-depth conversations with an impressive line up of experts on the pros and cons of digital revolution, as well as its ravaging effects on the age long norms of sectors such as tourism, media and communications, photojournalism, academics, and finance amongst others.
Commenting on the event, Chairman of the Guild of Photojournalists Nigeria (GPN), Mr. Abiodun Ajala expressed his gratitude to all attendees and friends of the association whom he described as his “backbone”. In his remarks, the Chairman revealed that he had initially doubted the successful outcome of the event.
Ajala submitted: “To see this conference and exhibition turn out the way it did is way beyond my expectation. The turnout, the speakers, my friends and associates, even those that weren’t able to make it down, I am grateful, and I can boldly say it is the start of something greater.”
An award of recognition was presented to highly respected Publisher/CEO and pioneer of brand journalism in Nigeria, John Ajayi for his unwavering support to the excellence of the industry. Similarly, Mrs. Esther Ajayi, Founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church, C & S (Iya Adura), London was also recognized for how she has touched and changed many lives through her ministry and humanitarian foundation.
