Google launches password-protection for web history, activity pages
Google has added a new feature that allows users to put a password on all their web and activity pages which also includes private searches and confidential activities that shouldn’t be accessible to others.
Google announced: “if you turn on extra verification Google will make sure it’s really you before you can see or delete your full history on My Activity. This can help keep your history safer on shared devices. This setting only applies to My Activity. Your history may still appear in other Google products.”
Your web and app activities include the things you do on Google Services like maps, searches, plays, and things you do on sites, apps, and devices that use Google Services, including voice and audio recordings. The activities you keep is used to give you more personalized experiences like faster searches and more helpful app and content recommendations.
According to the big tech, once turned on, the new feature will ask you to verify your identity before showing your history. In addition, users can also delete and control what’s saved in the Activity Control settings.
To activate the verification, you can go to activity.google.com, and click the Manage My Activity verification link. From there, you can select the Require Extra Verification option, save, and enter your password to confirm that you’re the one trying to make the change.
