First Katalyst shines at MARKETING EDGE Awards
By Felicia Nwosu
First Katalyst Marketing Limited, an experiential marketing agency strategically positioned to become a first-class ideas powerhouse in West Africa and to be one of the top ten agencies within the sub-region, has emerged the Experiential Marketing Agency of the Year, while Soji Odedina, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, was honoured with Experiential Marketing Personality of the Year. The agency clinched the two categories of awards at the just concluded Annual MARKETING EDGE Brands and Advertising Awards of Excellence, held at D’Podium Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The Below The Line (BTL) advertising agency was elated with the recognition on its success journey. Agnes Ailuelohia, the Chief Operation Officer, First Katalyst Marketing Ltd, while chatting with MARKETING EDGE in an interview, described the awards as a great surprise.
Hear her: “It was a pleasant surprise to us. We actually won two awards. I see the award as a sort of validation. It means that there are certain things we are doing right and correctly. If you look at the Nigerian space, you will find a number of experiential agencies and they are so innumerable to count. Standing out within this space, you have to do so many things that distinguish you. Getting this award simply means that you are being recognised; people see what you are doing, all your efforts and results. You know, when you are recognised, it comes as a validation to you. We are really excited, and our agency is happy about it. Being the Experiential Marketing Agency of the Year is a big one for us because it is very inspiring to me and to the rest of the team.”
Commenting further, she said, “We posted pictures for the rest of the team to see when we got the award back to the office. It got everyone inspired; after all, they say ‘the reward for hard work is more work’. The awards will propel and engender us to do a lot more than what we are currently doing. We want to say thank you to MARKETING EDGE for this award and honour. Really, we do not take it lightly. We are really happy about it.”
The COO of the first-class ideas powerhouse in West Africa’s marketing communication landscape, while projecting for the future, said, “We are nine years old, we are going to be ten next year. If I look at where we are coming from, and where we are today, having started from a humble little beginning, we have been experiencing growth in terms of our billings, profits and clients. This shows the trust our clients have in us. With these awards, moving forward, I see First Katalyst in a much bigger space than where we currently are.”
Elaborating more on the awards, the delighted Agnes, while appreciating the organisers for the special recognition and projection of her agency, reaffirmed the credibility of MARKETING EDGE’S annual awards for the past eight years.
Her words: There are lots of marketing awards, but based on what I have seen in the last 8 years, and the kind of articles and professionals featured in MARKETING EDGE magazine (digital and print), I can attest that the annual award is pretty credible. I also watch MARKETING EDGE on TV, and I do see the kind of practitioners who come on the programme. I came in here with my colleague, and she said, wow! Is this how big MARKETING EDGE is? I asked her to look them up online to see the incredible things they are doing. We have become partners with MARKETING EDGE and we want you continue to keep amplifying what we do.”
The experiential marketing expert also expressed her joy for the recent induction of First Katalyst Marketing Ltd. as a member of the Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) at the association’s last Brands Experience Summit and AGM.
She said, “For EXMAN, we saw it as a golden opportunity, as a place we can add our voice to some of the things we see within the industry where we will like to make a lot of change. We just started a journey. Interestingly, there is a branch of EXMAN that amplifies the women in marketing.”
