Dr. Francis Adedayo Faduyile – Erudite Scholar, Astute Administrator
Dr. Francis Adedayo Faduyile is currently the President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
He hails from Ikoya, in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State but resides and works in Lagos State as a Consultant Pathologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine of the Lagos State University College of Medicine, LASUTH.
He had his primary education at St. John’s School, Okitipupa, Ondo State between 1976 and 1982.
He later proceeded to Ikoya Grammar School, Ikoya in 1982 and was only there till 1983 and 1987 where his father who was a school principal was transferred there.
To earn his A-Level Certificate, he attended Christ School, Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State in 1988 and Ondo Boys High School, Ondo State in 1989.
He proceeded to the University of Lagos, Lagos State for his tertiary education and bagged his MBBS from the College of Medicine of the Institution in 1996.
Not satisfied with just being trained as a medical doctor and realizing the indispensable input of business orientation in all successful human endeavours, he acquired a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2005 while working as a medical officer in the State’s Specialist Hospital, Akure.
In an attempt to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for knowledge, he went back to the University of Lagos and got a Masters degree on Cell Biology and Genetics in 2006.
Being an inquisitive mind, Francis went further to become a Fellow of the Medical College of Pathologists in 2007, from the National Post Graduate Medical College of Nigeria where he took Advanced Courses in Pathology, Surgical Pathology and Forensic Medicine.
In 2008, he sought to further broaden his medical horizon by obtaining a Diploma of the National Cancer from the Division of Cancer Prevention, USA.
He passed with distinction the Diploma on Forensic Human identification from the Academy of Forensic Medical Sciences in United Kingdom examination.
Francis has had many professional trainings in terms of workshops and seminars within and outside the country.
He also has many research publications and presentations in his chosen field of medicine.
Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine of the Lagos State University College of Medicine and an Honorary Consultant at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State.
These positions he has been holding since 2007.
He had earlier had his residency in the Department of Anatomical and Molecular Pathology of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH), Idi-Araba from 2002 -2007 during which period he held various positions such as the Chief Resident, Registrar, and Senior Registrar, in various sections.

2005 MBA, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State. 2007 Fellow, Medical College of Pathologist NPMCN.

2015 Diploma, Forensic Human Identification Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine of Royal College of Physicians (UK). 2016 Fellow, College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa The East, Central and Southern Africa College of Health Sciences.
This erudite scholar has over 40 academic publications to his credit.
In all his years of service, till date, Dr. Faduyile has remained an advocate and a scholarly activist. For instance, in an interview with a health sector focused publication, he said, “We need to change the mode of engagement in the health sector”; and while vying for the post of President of the NMA, he gave himself a vision “To promote, preserve and improve NMA by identifying resources, applying innovative strategies and technologies, penetrating all levels of membership to espouse an NMA of all for one and for all”.
To him, the immortal words of Albert Rosenfield are always an inspiration that, “We live in a time where not only anything we can imagine seems possible, but where the possibilities range beyond what we can imagine”.
