Dozie Okafor Swaps PHD for Coca Cola
After about seven years in the media advertising sector, Dozie Okafor has finally dumped his career as an agency executive to start a new one on the client’s side. This follows his recent appointment as Media Manager at Coca Cola Nigeria.
This appointment which took effect on the 1st of March 2016 is seen as a giant step in the career of the fast rising media advertising expert who is looking forward to building a more challenging and exciting career that will hopefully take him to the top of the corporate ladder in Africa.
In a career that spans only seven years, Okafor has built an enviable resume and acquired a depth of experience that makes him a hotly sought after commodity in the marketing communications sector in Nigeria.
Okafor who graduated in 2000 from the University of Nigeria, Nsuka began his career as a Senior Executive, Planning at Mediareach OMD Nigeria. He was there for only 11months before he was redeployed to the Ghana office of the same agency. There he was made Deputy Manager, Planning.
While in Ghana, he was a lead strategist and planner for Vodafone GH, GSK and Guinness. He was also in charge of digital media, viral and search engine marketing.
He was in Ghana for 11 months when he was snapped up by PHD Media. As the Head, Media Strategy and Planning in PHD he worked on several top brands like La Casera, Nutri Food, Huawei, Apple, Moet Hennessy, PZ Cussons, L’Oreal, SC Johnson, Twinings Nigeria. Okafor spent over five years at PHD before he switched over to Coca Cola.
At PHD Okafor took charge of media strategist. He was the go to man for media evaluation/sponsorship, new business development. Now with Coca Cola, Okafor is expected to bring his rich media experience to bear in Coca Cola, as the soft drink company seeks to expand brand equity in a highly competitive market segment.
