Big & Bold celebrates 5 years of marketing communications excellence

Big and Bold Communications Limited, one of the fastest growing marketing communication agencies in Nigeria, has celebrated its 5th year anniversary in grand style as it played host to top practitioners in the industry to discuss the future of brands in the pre and post-COVID era.

Practitioners who spoke at the brand management colloquium held recently to celebrate the anniversary advocated the need for brand owners and agencies to approach the pre and post-COVID era with a new mindset provided they want to remain relevant to their clients and customers.

At the session, several speakers took turn to offer their views on what businesses, brands owners and agencies must embrace if they hope to survive as entities amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chief Transformation Officer, MTN Nigeria, Bayo Adekanmbi who delivered the keynote address titled ‘Pivoting Your Brand in Crisis’, noted that it has become imperative for agencies and brands to reposition by finding new path of survival in the midst of current crisis which has affected businesses generally.

Listing five critical elements that are pivotal for businesses and brands to survive at this time, Adekanmbi explained that agencies as well as businesses must be seen to demonstrate responsibility, reinforce its sense of reputation, show relevance to customers/consumers at a time when they are emotionally depressed, develop careful thought through retention strategy and have a good sense of recovery.

In her remarks, Brand Content Lead, Nextford University, Anna Johnston noted that brands cannot afford to be silent at this period, stressing that engaging customers/consumers the more would strengthen its presence in the marketplace.

Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Lasiko, a promotional product company, Damilare Ogunleye, stressed the need for brands to have digital mindset if they desire to play big in the post-COVID era.

According to Ogunleye, businesses that are interested in driving efficiency and delivering convenience to customers/consumers at this difficult period must be prepared to embrace digital.

In a similar vein, Consulting Partner, Verdant Zeal Group, Kola Omisore stated that it was important for brands to pivot in crisis through creative storytelling, adding that brands need to embrace change and be culturally relevant or risk being forgotten. He concluded that “people do not buy just goods and services; they buy relations, stories and magic”.

Speaking on the 5th year anniversary celebration, Group CEO/Chief Brand Strategist, Big & Bold Communication Limited, Jide Adeyemi expressed great delight for the accomplishment describing it as a product of hardwork, resilience and loyalty on the part of his team members who have remained integral to the success achieved so far. He expressed appreciation to all partners who have trusted the agency with their brands in the last five years.

“I must appreciate God for this feat. Some have said many businesses fail beyond 5 years, but here we are, crossing the mark as we continue to connect our partners’ brands and consumers. We could not have gone this far without hardwork, resilience and the drive to achieve success.

Adeyemi further disclosed that the company was set to introduce a Brand Management Consulting agency that will provide consulting services as well as conduct training and coaching to help professionals and organisations.

Commenting, the Group COO, Ranti Agunloye said: “In responding to the changing marketing ecosystem, we have decided to introduce our consulting arm, Brands Engineer that will  focus on Brand Strategy, Go-to-Market Plan, Advisory, Training and publish periodic consumer insights reporting.”
