Akin Ogunbiyi@ 60: Milestones of a great icon

In many respects, sixty years is a milestone worthy of celebration as it is equated with wisdom and maturity.
More celebratory cheers are worthy as Nigeria celebrates an accomplished businessman and politician, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, a man whose entire personality connotes resilience, wisdom, and fortitude and in the face of varying life’s challenges.
Ogunbiyi, the Group Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance PLC, a conglomerate of nine subsidiaries and over 5,000 employees, has for the most part of his life expressed courage and competence in providing exemplary character and admirable leadership qualities.
An icon par excellence, Ogunbiyi who also sits as the Chief Executive Officer & Associate Director at Finance & Insurance Experts Ltd. He is also on the board of Infrastructure Bank PIc and Elephant Group PLC and Associate at Chartered Insurance Institute and Member of Institute of Directors. His conglomerate encompasses insurance firms, oil and gas industry and real estate amongst others. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Directors, Fellow West Africa Insurance Institute, Banjul, Gambia and also a Fellow of the Risk Managers Society of Nigeria.
Earlier this year, in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities and immense contribution to the association and development of the country, Ogunbiyi was conferred with the honour of Grand Patron of the Guild of Photojournalists of Nigeria. He was also recognized as a Corporate Pacesetter at the maiden edition of MARKETING EDGE Hall of Fame.
Dr. Ogunbiyi is a graduate of Agricultural Economics from the University of Ife. He is also an alumnus of the famous International Graduate School of Management, University of Navarra (IESE) Barcelona, Spain where he obtained an Executive Masters in Business Administration. In addition, he is an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Said Business School of the University of Oxford where he attended the Oxford Advanced Management & Leadership Programme.
