President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, has stepped up Nigeria’s diplomatic and professional engagements in Kenya ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, WPRF, scheduled to take place from November 15 to 21.

During his visit to Nairobi, the NIPR President first met with Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim, where he briefed the diplomatic mission on Nigeria’s preparations to host the global public relations gathering on behalf of Africa.

The engagement, according to the NIPR, is part of efforts to strengthen institutional support and deepen collaboration ahead of the November forum, which will bring together public relations professionals and communication stakeholders from across the world.

Beyond the diplomatic engagement, Neliaku also held discussions with David Omwoyo Omwoyo, President of the World Association of Press Councils, Chairperson of the East Africa Press Councils and Chief Executive Officer of the Media Council of Kenya.

During the meeting, Omwoyo expressed his commitment to the forum and pledged to mobilise other senior media and press council officials across the region to participate in the event.

He also indicated plans to attend the November gathering with chairpersons and chief executives of selected press councils, potentially expanding the forum’s representation across Africa’s media and communication landscape.

Meanwhile, the NIPR president’s Nairobi engagements reflect the institute’s broader push to build strategic partnerships and secure wider African participation ahead of the international forum.

The PR veteran made the trip alongside Peter Mutie, a member of the Global Alliance Board, and Stanley Ogadigo, fnipr, Director of Public Relations at the NIPR.

With the Nairobi engagements now underway, the institute is continuing its mobilisation efforts across the continent as Nigeria prepares to host the World Public Relations Forum in November 2026.
