Helen Ogboh steps aside at FirstBank after 17 years

Esteemed financial advisor and corporate communications professional, Helen Ogboh, has announced her retirement from leading financial institution, FirstBank after a career of over 17 years.

Taking to her LinkedIn page to make this announcement, Helen stated that it had been a “truly enriching experience” so far.

The post read, “Some call it retirement; someone once called it refiring, and I prefer the latter refiring. Yes, indeed, I am refiring after a wonderful career spanning seventeen and a half years at FirstBank. It was a truly enriching experience.”

“Friday, November 15, 2024, didn’t pass unnoticed. It was a remarkable day for me, and I am deeply grateful to my family, colleagues, and friends who celebrated this major milestone in various ways: breakfast meetings, private dinner gatherings, a large party with colleagues and some customers in attendance, a Thanksgiving service in church, and recognition by the Bank’s management during the MPR session held that same day. Notably, November 15 was both my birthday and my last meeting at FirstBank, making it all the more significant.”

Prior to her retirement, Helen was the Group Head of Corporate Banking Directorate at FirstBank from July 2014 to November 2024. She also served as the Head of Employees, Transformation and Culture from January 2010 to July 2014. Still at FirstBank, she was the Head of Brands from May 2007 to January 2010. Prior to joining FirstBank, Helen Ogboh was a Senior Account Director at The Quadrant Company and a Client Service Director at PMI Direct.

Helen is a results-driven professional with over seventeen years of experience in Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Business Management. Her expertise spans across building and managing impactful brands across diverse sectors, including fast-moving consumer goods, financial services, and telecommunications.

Her career journey encompasses corporate communications where she developed and implemented strategic communication plans that enhance brand reputation and stakeholder engagement, human capital management where are cultivated high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, and strategic talent management and business management where she drove operational efficiency and ensured the seamless integration of marketing and organizational objectives.

Helen Ogboh earned her first degree, a BA in philosophy from the University of Ibadan and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Lagos. She is currently running an Executive Masters program in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Rome Business School, Nigeria.
