The prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has unveiled its plans for the 71st edition, set to take place from June 17 to 21, 2024, in Cannes, France.

Introducing a range of new initiatives and pass options, the Festival aims to foster inclusivity and diversity.

Notably, a groundbreaking initiative allocates €1 million worth of complimentary passes to support underrepresented and underserved communities. Organizations, particularly registered charities and diverse-owned entities, will be eligible to apply, enhancing accessibility.

Frank Starling, Chief DEI Officer at LIONS, emphasized the commitment to global equity and accessibility. Applications for complimentary passes will open in December.

In addition to the inclusivity initiative, Cannes Lions 2024 will introduce various pass options to cater to diverse needs. The Start-Up Pass targets smaller businesses and individuals, offering them a gateway to the Festival.

A Connector Pass is designed for networking-focused attendees, reflecting the Festival’s commitment to evolving with the diverse needs of its audience. Simon Cook, CEO of LIONS, highlighted their dedication to providing increased access and addressing the varied circumstances within the global community.

The Festival has also launched its annual Call for Content, welcoming proposals globally until January 5, 2024.

The open call ensures a platform for diverse voices, reinforcing Cannes Lions’ commitment to showcasing creativity from anywhere in the world. The 2024 agenda will continue to emphasize creativity, building on the success of the ‘Creative Impact’ content stream from the 2023 Festival.

The LIONS Scholarship, designed to nurture emerging talent, will continue, offering fully funded places to 10 young individuals from around the world.

The Cannes Lions Brand Marketers and Creative Academies, taking place during the Festival, provide an immersive experience for scholarship recipients.

The Festival will also welcome its 10th cohort of women into the fully funded talent accelerator program for women, See It Be It, aiming for equal gender representation in creative leadership roles. Applications for this program are open until January 8, 2024.

Furthermore, the Cannes Lions Awards will open submissions on January 18, 2024, with a notable addition – the Luxury & Lifestyle Lions.

This new category recognizes the transformative impact on creative marketing in the luxury sector. As part of these updates, the Mobile Lions category will be retired. Cannes Lions 2024 continues to evolve, ensuring its enduring impact on the global creative community.
