The management and staff of TVC News are celebrating a remarkable achievement and bidding farewell to Stella Din-Jacob, fondly known as “The General,” as she assumes her new role as Executive Director, News of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), effective immediately.

Stella’s appointment underscores the federal government’s commitment to strengthening national broadcasting as a platform for unity, cohesion, and diplomacy.

During her six-year tenure at TVC News, Stella demonstrated exceptional leadership and journalistic acumen, leaving an indelible mark on the organization. Prior to joining TVC News in 2018, she honed her skills at Silverbird Group, Minaj Broadcast Group, and Channels Television.

As Executive Producer of NEWSMEDIA Productions, Media Consultant to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Group Head of Content and Quality Assurance, and National Head of News and Current Affairs, Stella brought a wealth of experience to her role.

According to Victoria Abiola Ajayi, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TVC Communications, Stella was instrumental in creating award-winning programs, nurturing young talent, and ensuring the consistency and credibility of hourly bulletins. Under her leadership, TVC News rose to become one of the top three most-watched news stations in Nigeria.

Her contributions to the news industry have earned her numerous accolades, including being named No. 1 Woman in Journalism in Africa by WiJAfrica in 2024.

Ajayi noted, “While we are saddened to see her move on, we are extremely proud that her journey continues in service to the nation… We are proud to have nurtured leadership talent of such caliber, and we know she will make us proud as she contributes to the growth of national broadcasting.”

Stella’s achievements extend beyond TVC News. She successfully steered one of the largest newsrooms in the country, with correspondents across over 30 states, and supervised extensive election coverage, including the 2023 polls.

A holder of a law degree, Stella studied Foundation Course in Law from the University of Warwick, has LLB from the University of Kent, and B.L from the Nigeria Law School.
