Tinubu appoints Premium Trust Bank CEO to Governing Council of FUTES

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Premium Trust Bank, to the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin-Ekiti.

In a statement released by the bank on its official LinkedIn page Thursday, the appointment reflects Mr. Emefienim’s exceptional leadership, strategic insight, and commitment to national development.

A distinguished banker with decades of experience, he has been instrumental in shaping the financial sector, fostering economic growth, and championing innovation.

The statement reads in part, “The prestigious honour reflects Mr Emefienim extraordinary leadership, dedication and impactful contributions to national development and innovation.

“His appointment underscores his role as a trailblazer in driving progress and excellence.

“We at Premium Trust Bank are incredibly proud to be guided by such an inspiring leader whose influence knows no bound. Here is a visionary who continues to set the standard for greatness!”

Mr. Emefienim started his banking career with Oceanic Bank Plc now Ecobank Nigeria where he worked from 1992 to 1997, rising to the position of Head, Credit & Marketing.

He later moved to United Bank for Africa as Manager, Commercial Banking between 1997 and 2000. He also worked in Savannah Bank Plc and FSB International now Fidelity Bank Plc over a six-year period before joining Equitorial Trust Bank (ETB) in 2006. While in ETB, he excelled and rose to the position of Zonal Business Director.

Following the acquisition of ETB and its consolidation into Sterling Bank in 2011, Emefienim assumed the position of Regional Business Executive covering South-South 2 Region, a role in which he excelled, leading to the expansion of his responsibilities to cover South-South 1 region.

Aside from being awarded Best performing Group Head (Regional Businesses) at various times, he also ran the most profitable Regional Business bank for 6 consecutive years (2011- 2017).

Based on his exceptional performance, he was promoted to the position of General Manager in 2016. In 2018, he was appointed to the Board of Sterling Bank as Executive Director, Institutional Banking Directorate.

Leveraging his deep well of expertise and years of seasoned experience in the banking industry, Emmanuel Emefienim founded Premium Trust Bank which began operation in April 2022 at its first branch in Port Harcourt.

In a remarkable sprint of growth, the bank swiftly established its presence in key economic hubs such as Abuja and Lagos, marking its ascent as a formidable player in Nigeria’s financial landscape.

Mr. Emefienim is a leader with outstanding qualities and has consistently delivered value, given his best at all times and taken ownership in very difficult situations. By all standards, he is a professional par excellence.

As a member of FUTES Governing Council, he is expected to deploy his wealth of experience to further drive progress in education, technology and environmental sustainability in the institution.
