The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has expressed support for the full implementation of Advertising Industry Standards of Practice (AISOP).

In a statement signed by the association’s President Emmanuel Ajufo and the publicity Secretary Babatunde Oyekan, OAAN said it has studied and accepted the contents of AISOP’s regulatory framework, as recently presented to the Nigerian public by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), led by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo.

“We hereby declare the total support of all members of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), for the full implementation of the AISOP document. We commend APCON for this laudable initiative,” the statement said.

Commenting further, OAAN said: “Prior to the preparation of this document, our association had put together a document we had tagged “Standard Operating Procedure” in the conviction that such had become expedient in our industry, especially in the engagements between our members and the media buyers, as well as with the advertisers. We attest that the document we had produced was part of our submission to APCON as the AISOP was being put together.

“We believe that AISOP, if faithfully implemented, and the provisions strictly adhered to by all the relevant sectors of the advertising industry in Nigeria, will engender growth of the industry as it will restore the confidence of both practitioners and investors in the industry. In our opinion, it is the dawn of the much anticipated newness in the Advertising industry, in Nigeria.”
