NIPR inducts new Fellows at 2022 AGM

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inducted new fellows at the 2022 Annual General Meeting that was held recently at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Some of the inductees are Comfort Nwankwo, chairman NIPR Lagos State Chapter; Maryam Sanusi, Chairman NIPR FCT Chapter; Reuben Muoka, Director, Public Affair Nigeria Communications Commission; Omoniyi Ibietan, Head Media Relations Management at Nigerian Communications Commission; Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA); Edward Adebanjo, GMD/CEO at Publics Limited & Public Affairs; Azuka Ogugua, a Deputy Director in the Public Enlightenment & Education Department of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC); Adelabu ADEYEMI-ADEJOLU, immediate past Ekiti State Chapter Chairman; Eddy Megwa , NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations; Emeka Mgbemena, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations; and Akinwumi Ricketts, Chairman and Board of Directors, Nigerian Ports Authority, amongst others.
Speaking at the AGM after the investiture, the NIPR President noted that new Fellows of the Institute were selected after a rigorous screening exercise of candidates aspiring for the Fellowship of the Institute by the Fellowship Advisory Committee.
“In addition to the regular upgrade, the Institute had opened a special membership upgrade window “in response to the yearnings of members, to facilitate the processing of the upgrade of NIPR members who had lost precedence or proper categorization due to circumstances beyond their control,” he said.
Commenting on the induction, Omoniyi Ibietan said: “I consider it a privilege to be inducted along with my boss, Reuben Muoka, Director Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission.”
According to him, the fellowship of NIPR is coveted and so it’s natural for every member of NIPR to have an eye on being a member of the Board of Fellows. “By the spirit and letters of NIPR Bye-Law No.4 on Election of Fellows of the Institute, the highest membership grade in the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is the grade of Fellow.
“The basis for NIPR’s being is to register members, set parameters of knowledge to acquire to qualify to practice, regulate the practice and development of the PR profession as well as monitor professional conducts.
“I consider it an honour and a privilege to be inducted to the top echelon of the PR profession in Nigeria,” he said.
Also, Edward Adebanjo said: “In addition to my other professional qualifications, I will now have the honour and privilege of being addressed as a Fellow.”
