Multichoice increases DStv, Gotv prices again

Multichoice Nigeria has announced an increase in price for its packages on DStv and Gotv, with hikes across all bouquets.
The new prices are set to take effect from May 1st 2024, just six months after its last price upward review. This was seen in an email sent to all subscribers announcing the price increment. The company cited the “rise in the cost of business operations” as the reason for the increment.
Parts of the email read, “We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer but the rise in the cost of business operations has led us to make this difficult decision.”
Multichoice further reaffirmed their commitment towards providing viewers with high quality content stating that the increment was to help them deliver better.
“It remains our mission to provide the best entertainment and viewing experience to you and are committed to continue to deliver high quality content and unparalleled service.”
According to the email, with the latest price hike, the DStv Premium package increased from N29,500 to N37,000. Similarly, the DStv Compact plus has gone up from N19,800 to N25,000 while the Compact package increased from N12,500 to N15,700. The confam package moved up from N7,400 to N9,300 while the Yanga package moved up from N4,200 to N5,100.
For GOtv, Supa plus increased from N12,500 to N15,700 while the Supa package moved up from N7,600 to N9,600. Also, Max has gone up from N5,700 to N7,200 and the Jolli package went from N3,950 to N4,850.
In 2023, Multichoice disclosed a $72 million deficit in its third-quarter financial report, attributing its financial challenges to foreign exchange difficulties in Nigeria and persistent power outages in South Africa, just before increasing DSTV subscription prices in November.
