Meet Marketing Edge Award Jurors
Juror Member — Chief Chuddy Oduenyi, Chief Executive Officer of Compact Communications Limited, has academic background in diverse fields of liberal arts studies, social sciences and business management specifically in Mass Communications, Philosophy, History, Marketing and Business Administration. He has also attended several executive education programmes at topflight schools across Africa, Europe and America.
He is currently an adjunct member of Faculty at the Pan Atlantic University Lagos, where he teaches Public Relations Strategies at the School of Media and Communication and facilitates specialist courses at the Lagos Business School.
A consummate marketer, astute corporate strategist and prodigious Public Relations practitioner, Mr. Oduenyi’s versatility has seen him traverse the distinct realms of Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Corporate Strategy and Marketing Management.
In this vein, he has led with distinction the Brand Management, Corporate Communications, Marketing Strategy, Special Projects and Business Development functions in some of Nigeria’s notable companies including The Guardian Press, Vanguard Media Limited, The Quadrant Company, Dunlop Nigeria Plc, Industrial And General Insurance (IGI) Plc and Factsmill Consulting Limited.
In the course of a fascinating career that spans thirty years, he has consulted at the highest level of government in Nigeria and has managed leading global brands and major world-class organisations operating in Nigeria.
He has also prosecuted campaigns in Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Liberia and Cameroon at the behest of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
As Head of Marketing at Dunlop Nigeria Plc, he spearheaded the revitalisation of the company’s growth and sustenance strategy in Nigeria and the West African Sub region.
At IGI Plc., as the Director of Corporate Communications, he initiated a Pan African campaign for the IGI Group that included Ghana, The Gambia, Rwanda and Uganda.
An eclectic mind, poet and philosopher, Oduenyi was, in June 2018, adjudged the PR Personality of The Decade by Nigeria’s leading industry magazine MARKETING EDGE. He was in June 2013 honoured by the Faculty of Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a Leadership Award (as a Man of Integrity and Exemplary Leadership) and has received numerous awards from leading institutions and respected newspapers in Nigeria.
A Knight of The Order of Saint Mulumba (KSM), he also holds the prestigious traditional title of Ogbunaechendo in Aku in Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State as well as the revered Chieftaincy title of Agunaechemba of Oko in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State.
He is a classical music enthusiast and art collector; his other hobbies include Man Watching, Coin Collecting and Gardening.
This top notch professional, who is also a scholar and an entrepreneur, holds an honours degree from the University of Calabar and an MBA from Imo State University, Owerri.
