MARKETING EDGE Publisher tasks admen on global competitiveness

Star FM101.5, the sister radio station to Muhri television, Saturday hosted Mr. John Ajayi, the Publisher, MARKETING EDGE, the foremost advertising, marketing, and brand-centric magazine, in a live interview anchored by Nkechi Mordi, the quintessential presenter of the popular one hour programme: “Talk to us”.
During the engaging and insightful one-hour conversation, Ajayi, whom the presenter described as a compendium of everything marketing tasked marketing and advertising practitioners in the country to be more competitive like their counterparts across the globe saying that is the only way they can achieve profitability and return on investments.
He stated that the world has become a global village where industry players and gladiators are constantly challenged against global standards of performance, hence no room for half measures in value offerings and value addition.
He revealed that MARKETING EDGE publication was launched into the Nigerian print market with a view to expanding the frontiers of marketing and advertising knowledge and also serve as an avant-garde news media platform for both the brands and the consumers by addressing issues that affect their relationships and engagement.
“We have seen that most of the challenges with the market that product fails, is because consumers are largely ignorant, most consumers confirmed that they don’t even have enough information about the product and brands available in the market place. We try to fill this lacuna by offering relevant and requisite products information to the consumers through markets insights. He also stated that the magazine also try to offer more knowledge, some so-called enlightened people don’t even know much about the brands, some just buy on impulses. We serve as a guard, for both the brand and the consumers, provide feedbacks for the advertisers and of course, try to keep the consumers on their guard, and when the time for advocacy comes, we are always on the stand by for the consumers.
The MARKETING EDGE Managing Director challenged industry key players to move strategically and consistently with emerging trends to enable them remain relevant at the crest of the industry.
“In a competitive market environment where the other players are moving forward and you remain stationery, you are as good as going backward. If you are dynamic, you will be progressive along the line no matter the sector you find yourself. We believe in innovation and in the power of innovative ideas. We keep challenging ourselves on the frontiers of knowledge in terms of upscaling skill sets and upgrading capacity building.
The visionary entrepreneur, while going down memory lane shared his success story of the intricacies of moving from humble beginning to climbing the success ladder as an accomplished entrepreneur.
According to him, his career trajectory is an exciting one, being very passionate of becoming renowned lawyer or journalist who would be the voice of the voiceless, but was discouraged by his parents who were afraid to lose him to such life threatening career as they termed it then.
His words: “I have always seen myself as the voice of the voiceless. I have always pitched my camp with the oppressed and the downtrodden. I believe our society is structurally and fundamentally skewed against the downtrodden. This is why I had wanted to be either a lawyer or journalist.
He advised the younger generation and intending practitioners to embrace had work and value addition.
“It is not a rocket ,science , all it takes is determination, purposefulness with hard work. Never give up, at every point in time, I keep rethinking and re-innovating and keep reinventing. we learn, sometimes, we unlearn the old ones. Thank God that the digital age is here on us. we are taking a very maximum utilisation of it and the world now is a global village in the real sense of it, don’t stay in one corner and remain contended.
The consummate activist and patriot, who is very passionate about the project Nigeria, urged Nigerians to become more dogged and resilient because he believes in the posterity for a better tomorrow Nigeria.
“We should pray for good leadership, and in our different corners, trades and professions, we should always do our best, work hard with passion. We also sometimes blame our leaders, but of course, most of the time too, as we point accusing fingers at our leaders, we have our own share of the blame.”
