Lagos NIPR to hold Digital PR summit

Lagos State  chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will hold  a two-day  Digital PR summit on October 19 and 20, 2016 at the Nigerian Institute of Management, Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The summit which  will take place  in partnership with Google, Microsoft and TrendWatching, has the theme: ‘New Media: Public Relations Practice in Networked Communities’.

“The summit is a two-day experiential gathering of communicators focused on achieving collective intelligence to equip and capacitate communicators with high-level digital media strategies, tactics and how-to-do’s so they can do their jobs better, train their teammates and lift their campaign results,” said the Lagos NIPR  Chairman, Mr. Olusegun McMedal.

The NIPR  was formerly  known as the Public Relations Association of Nigeria until it was renamed in 1972.  However, the body was established in 1963 under the law but became chartered under Decree 16 of 1990.

The body has the power to register members, regulate the practice and development of PR profession and monitor professional conducts.

The institute conducts  yearly professional certificate and diploma examinations to produce professionals in PR. It  also offers  in-house trainings and media management.
