Ikeja Electric records positive growth performance in 2019
Ikeja Electric, energy provider and dominant player in Nigeria’s power industry have disclosed it recorded an impressive growth performance during the period spanning the business year 2019.
The company stated that despite the huge developmental challenges prevalent in the sector, it had successfully sailed through the odds and is presently thriving and flourishing towards becoming a major force in the supply of energy in the Nigerian power industry.
Making these disclosures on the company’s business performance in the year through a Linkedin post, Chief Operating Officer to the energy firm, Folake Soetan said the organisation was committed to setting the pace in growth performance in the Nigerian power sector.
Giving highlights of the company’s achievement in the period, she disclosed the company had successfully reduced her ATC & C losses from about 31.3 percent last year to 24.5 percent presently.
ATC & C refers to Aggregated Technical and Commercial Loss Reduction which is the difference between the amount of electricity received by a Distribution Company from the Transmission Company and the amount of electricity for which it invoices its customers plus the adjusted collections loss.
She added that the company during the period successfully introduced the e – billing system and started experimenting towards improved sustainable power through the bilateral initiative as well as optimized its existing systems through continuous innovations.
She noted further that in 2020, the company would deliver exceptional services to its customers, improve the quality of power supply while partnering with the industry players to build a sustainable power sector in Nigeria.
According to her, the company was committed to providing access to affordable and reliable power supply in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 7) in pursuance of its vision of being the provider of choice where ever energy is consumed.
“2019 was a phenomenal year for us at at Ikeja Electric. Despite the huge challenges we thrived and flourished. We tested new waters, learnt amazing lessons and set the pace in the Nigerian Power Industry.
“We were able to reduce our ATC&C Losses from 31.3% to 24.5%, introduced e-billing, started the experiment towards improved sustainable power through the bilateral initiative and optimized our existing systems through innovations,” she said.

Ikeja Electric Plc is the largest Nigerian electricity distribution company. The company came into being on November 1, 2013 following the handover of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria to NEDC/KEPCO Consortium under the privatization scheme.
With customers spread across the Northern part of Lagos State and parts of Ogun State, the mapping of its coverage spreads across eight Local Government Areas; Alimosho, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Epe, Oshodi, Agege, Shomolu and Kosofe.
