Former participants, awardees hail MARKETING EDGE Summit & Awards of Excellence

As the MARKETING EDGE 2021 Summit and Brands & Advertising Awards of excellence draw closer, past awardees and participants are excited to join the organisers in celebrating the titans, expert and gurus in this year’s event scheduled to hold on 26th and 27th August respectively. The twin event, which features key stakeholders and experts in its virtual summit, promises to be one of its kind.
MARKETING EDGE is the foremost brand and advertising publication and has always been known for recognising and awarding talents, while challenging the status quo in the integrated marketing communications (IMC) industry in Nigeria.
Baba Awopetu, the Strategy and Marketing Consultant at Stragmar, UK, who was the Guest Speaker at the 7th edition of the Summit & Awards, appreciated the MARKETING EDGE team for their constant effort in identifying and appreciating industry talents with credible awards.
In his words: “MARKETING EDGE is leading the industry with good provocative discussion, insight, pragmatic and good community. I think it’s quite ground-breaking work that the MARKETING EDGE team is doing; I will only say one of the things MARKETING EDGE is doing is its continuous innovations, always looking for ways to improve the stands and presence of marketing and also its collaboration across the marketing industry. So, I found engaging with MARKETING EDGE over the years to be a pleasant experience.”
Rating the MARKETING EDGE Awards as excellent, he noted: “I think overall, it raising the profile, it is challenging the status quo; it forces the marketers to think about the most difficult topic. I think it’s really making the marketers to think about discipline and function in the centres of business that the revenue generating engine of business and finding solutions. I think that is one of the top things that MARKETING EDGE Awards does in terms of perception. I have been extremely impressed by MARKETING EDGE which is why whenever I get a phone call or email from the team, I am always happy to be responsive.”
He added: “When I am not on the panel or speaking it is always something I always tune in to because there is an ample opportunity to learn ideas and usually they have collections prepared challenging and provoking contributors – that is why I like to tune in and listen.”
Speaking in the same vein, Chris Ogunlowo, Creative Director, SO&U, who was honoured as the Creative Personality of the Year, expressed delight on being celebrated by MARKETING EDGE and dedicated the award to his team members for providing the necessary support.
In his words: “I am pleased and humbled to have been recognised by MARKETING EDGE for the work we do. Coming from such a distinguished organisation, I am inspired and challenged to do more for the profession. The award will definitely lead to high expectations and we will continually TO raise our game in producing compelling and superior ideas for our clients.”
On his part, Yinka Adebayo, Executive Director at OMG WeCa Nigeria, who emerged the MARKETING EDGE Media Personality of the Decade, said: “For me, it is really an honor. I must confess that I give all the glory to God, but more importantly, and to a large extent, I thank MARKETING EDGE for that award.
“It is all about value. We will keep putting value on the table, widening the tarmac, raising the bar and evolving by doing new things and setting new standards. Because that is the only way we will continue to deliver to our clients and also challenging the status quo in the integrated marketing communications industry in Nigeria.”
