FirstBank reenacts 125-year culture of giving hope
The 2019 African Polo tournament which held recently at the Fifth Chukker Country Club, Kaduna, may have come and gone, but the corporate gesture extended to sports men, women and enthusiasts by First Bank of Nigeria Limited at the event still reverberates throughout the length and breadth of Nigeria and beyond.
The bank, Nigeria’s premier and still leading financial institution, reenacted its over a century old corporate social responsibility culture of giving hope to its numerous customers across Nigeria by partnering, this year, with Fifth Chukker through the “Pink Hope” Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The campaign, a community outreach also took place during the tournament.
FirstBank’s focus was on sensitising women about breast cancer, the symptoms, free screening and to make treatment programmes available. By such gesture, the bank reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the health and welfare of its host communities.
Located on KM2, Kaduna-Jos Road, Kaduna State, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club represents the best West Africa – and, indeed, all of Africa has to offer for both polo enthusiasts and well-traveled citizens. Set within Kangimi Resorts’ three thousand picturesque hectares, the club offers a range of lodging, dining, equestrian and outdoor leisure activities.
Pink Hope, on the other hand, is a preventative health hub that allows every individual the necessary tools to assess, manage and reduce their risk of breast and ovarian cancer, while providing personalised support for at-risk women. It was originally established in response to a gap in the provision of information, relevant guidance and emotional support to women at-risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Over the years, the organisation has witnessed an even greater need for it to empower the general population to assess, understand and reduce their risk as a consequence of which Pink Hope is able to help individuals take charge of their health.
FirstBank’s partnership with Fifth Chukker through the “Pink Hope” Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign was thus a development of national relevance and historical significance.
