Coker Assumes Rack Centre MD Position
Ayotunde Coker, former Global Applications Director at BP, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Rack Centre Limited a state-of-the-art Tier III certified data center offering vendor-neutral collocation services.
This is contained in a statement released by Jagal Group where the group said Coker is a highly accomplished, commercially astute technology executive with over 25 years’ experience at company, board and executive committee levels.
“He has international experience across Europe, the United States of America, Asia and Africa with global blue-chip organisations, such as Glaxo Smith Kline, ABN Amro, UBS, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch and The Prudential,” the statement reads.
According to the statement, Coker has held the position of Global Applications Director at BP, the global Oil and Gas Company and prior to returning to Nigeria, was Chief Technology Officer for the United Kingdom Criminal Justice System.
It noted that he had also achieved industry-leading ‘firsts’ in implementing PCIDSS, IFRS and ISO27001 and e-business in banking.
“In Nigeria, Coker was previously the Group Chief Information Officer of Access Bank where he launched a data centre that was acclaimed as the most sophisticated in West Africa.”
“He was central to the technology enabled business transformation and M&A that has enabled the bank to achieve its current status in Africa. He most recently served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Emerging Markets Payments, West Africa, which is a leading African and Middle East payments company, where he succeeded in positioning the company as the e-Payments leader in Nigeria and West Africa,” the statement added.
Ayotunde has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree from the Cranfield Institute of Technology, the United Kingdom.
He is an honorary senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Nigeria, a member of the UK Institute of Directors and a fellow of the British Computer Society.
