Coca-Cola becomes first-ever partner of World Team Tennis
Coca-Cola has been named the official beverage partner of all World Team Tennis events scheduled to take place in China 2021.
As part of the deal, Coca-Cola will be awarded exclusive rights to provide water, energy drinks and soft drinks at the World Table Tennis events.
Liu Guoliang, World Team Tennis Council chair, said: “WTT is delighted to be teaming up with an organisation of Coca-Cola’s international caliber. This stellar partnership reinforces our ambition to elevate table tennis to the global sports elite.”
The events have been scheduled to take place in 3 different hubs across the world, which include The Middle East in March and early April, China between April 13 and May 16, and Europe in late May and June, 2021.
The sponsorship also extends to the World Table Tennis Macau, scheduled to take place later this month, an event set to provide a taste of what to expect from the new-look series of international events.
WTT Macau is set to feature reigning world champions Ma Long and Liu Shiwen among the field, with a prize purse of $800,000 (£604,880/€679,180) on offer.
Two other partnerships were also launched recently to coincide with tickets for WTT Macao going on sale.
Resort and hospitality company, Galaxy Entertainment Group, was announced as the WTT’s presenting partner and sports consultancy firm, LD Sports was named as global premier partner for the World Team Tennis.
Steve Dainton, WTT director and chief executive of the International Table Tennis Federation, said: “These partnerships with global brands Coca-Cola, Galaxy Entertainment Group and LD Sports underline the significant plans that we have for our sport. WTT Macao will be a show like no other and a bold statement of our intentions to take table tennis to the next level.”
