CFJ’s Bullion Lecture to address telecoms, digital banking and Nigeria’s economic development
Telecoms, Digital Banking and Nigeria’s Economic Development would form the central theme of discussions as the annual lecture series of Centre for Financial Journalism (CFJ) gets underway in a forth night at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island in Lagos.
Going with the tag “The Bullion Lecture” the annual lecture series was conceptualised by the foremost Financial Journalism body to be a platform for lively discourse on national and international related issues.
Slated for Thursday, 26th of March, 2020, the Guest Lecturer of the day is Professor Umar Danbatta, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and Chairman of the event is Dr. Segun Aina, OFR, President, Africa FinTech Network and former President/Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Would-be panelists at the event are Mrs. Chizor Malize, Managing Director / CEO, Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) and Mr. Aderemi Atanda, Executive Director, SystemSpec Limited. The Chief Host is Mr. Ernest Ebi, MFR, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Centre for Financial Journalism.
Founded in the year 2016, the Centre for Financial Journalism was founded with the objective to be the prime capacity building platform for financial journalism in Nigeria. The Centre is well positioned to engage target publics for financial and business organisations who wish to boost their reputation and profile in the competitive business terrain in Nigeria.
Speaking on the organisation’s corporate objectives, the CEO, Ray Echebiri said: “Today’s financial and business media enterprise, especially in the print media, requires fast and efficient delivery of business information in a way that is relevant to the key players.”
Accordingly, he noted Centre for Financial Journalism Nigeria was well equipped with a faculty of thoroughbred professionals with extensive experience of managing highly successful financial media enterprises spanning over 2 decades.
The Centre said its motive remains to sharpen the knowledge of journalists to fully understand the dynamics of the Nigerian economy, workings of the financial markets and intricacies of the real sector.
“The major objective is to produce highly skilled financial journalists who can convert information and data into economic intelligence for the benefit of Nigerians and businesses.
“We will bring this to bear in building your skills and knowledge base to meet with the changing landscape of media enterprises in Nigeria and raise the quality of your content, readership base and revenue,” he said.
