Boeing 737 MAX may soon fly again
Boeing’s 737 MAX jet could soon be back in the air, after its software updates were deemed “operationally suitable” by the Federal Aviation Administration. The model has been grounded since the fatal crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight — the second deadly incident in a matter of months, with the order affecting over 300 planes worldwide.
In a process that could take up to three months, Boeing must still formally submit the updates and training to the FAA for final approval, according to Reuters.
California is the most innovative economy in America, per Bloomberg’s latest U.S. State Innovation Index. The Golden State topped five out of six of the metrics used to rank states, falling behind only in number of S.T.E.M. professionals. Ending a two-year patent dispute, Apple has agreed to pay an undisclosed amount to Qualcomm and signed a six-year licensing agreement with the chipmaker. Just hours after the announcement, Intel revealed it was quitting the 5G modem market — offering a possible explanation for the surprise settlement, per Engadget. All disputes around how royalties are paid on innovations in smartphone technology have now been settled and Apple will regain access to Qualcomm’s 5G modem chips.
Amazon’s online shopping site is flooded with fake five-star reviews for products from unknown brands, according to U.K. consumer group Which?, that says thousands of the reviews are unverified, meaning there is no evidence that the reviewer bought the product. In one example, a pair of headphones from an unknown brand had 439 five-star reviews, all unverified and posted on the same day. Amazon is using automated technology to locate the fake reviews.
