It was a whole new experience for over 1,000 Millennials and members of Gen-Z who benefited from the third edition of the free annual media workshop hosted by SBI media, one of the foremost media planning, buying and strategy agencies in Nigeria, recently.
The media workshop held at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, with the theme: “ Media in a Blockchain Era” gathered leading Nigerian video content creators and cryptocurrency experts such as Emmanuel Ebanehita, Marketing Director, Binance; Ugochukwu Obi, finance expert; Opeyemi Awoyemi, Serial Investor; Somehcrypto, founder, Felbeth, Fisayo Fosudo, Tech Media Entrepreneur and Olubunmi Fabanwo, programmer at Binance.
The hybrid free media workshop is part of SBI’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability projects aimed at empowering the Nigerian youths. The workshop featured a series of sessions which covered the role of media in blockchain, content creation, video content, partnerships, etc.
Speaking on the theme, Rotimi Bankole, CEO SBI Media, said the theme was to further the knowledge of blockchain in the Nigerian media industry.
His words: “At SBI Media we are always asking the big questions and pushing beyond the limits, that’s why we decided to shed more light on the blockchain industry.
“The global media ecosystem has been a net beneficiary of innovation across digital media, and in the last few years, blockchain has been a major segment that has gained more interest. The intersection between media and the opportunities in blockchain cannot be over-emphasized from NFT tokens to ecommerce and customer engagements – blockchain brings more possibilities.”
Commending the agency’s initiative, Ugochukwu Obi, Partner, ICT and Banking & Finance, Preghstone & Graeys, LP, added that he is impressed by the initiative from SBI Media.
His words: “I am so happy with SBI for organizing this workshop because the frequency of seminars like this will make people become more aware, especially when they hear about the use of this technology, they will start to make sectoral presentations to the relevant government agencies.”
On her part, Somehcrypto, Founder Felbeth, said SBI Media has really done a great job organizing the workshop for the youth.
“I have never seen anything like this before; the theme of the event is great. People underplay and undervalue the role of media; but with this workshop and the theme, people will understand the role media play in sensitizing and creating awareness on how crypto and blockchain technology work,” she said.
