Babajide Sanwo Olu hauls more laurels over outstanding feats

Less than 1000 days in office, MARKETING EDGE OUTSTANDING POLITICAL BRAND ICON OF THE YEAR and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has added more feathers to his beaded crown as he emerged Daily Independent Newspaper Governor of the Year and Silverbird Man of the Year respectively weekend.
The star awardee whose exceptional leadership, immaculate record, and remarkable personality brand equity growth has continued to gain global recognition across sectors was elected to the Office of Governor of Lagos State in 2019; following his election as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu has since made a name for himself as a Governor who is committed to the betterment of Lagos State and the wellbeing of its people.
His revolutionary credentials in urban renewal, infrastructure development and dogged commitment to the environment prompted the deployment of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda- a policy-focused acronym by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration which represents Traffic Management and Transportation; Health and Environment, Education and Technology; Making Lagos a 21st Century state; and Security and Governance.
In line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda development plan of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration, several projects were initiated and completed in different sectors across the State, which includes more than 51 major infrastructural projects such as a 37km rail system that runs from Agbado to Marina; six major junctions improved at Lekki Phase 1 and 2, Ajah, Maryland, Ikotun, and Allen Avenue, with traffic light signal technology; 18.57km Lekki-Epe Expressway project; construction of 3.75km of road network across 4 roads including Thompson avenue, Milverton road, McDonald road, and Lateef Jakande road; 6.05km Ijede dual carriageway, phase one, Itamaga Ikorodu; the Pent Cinema fly over, ramp and road networks, Lagos-Ogun Boundary roads Phase II, Lekki-Oniru Traffic Circulation Projects, network of roads in Ojokoro , Somolu and Ikoyi, among others. His administration also constructed and rehabilitated 301 inner roads in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). It also commissioned the Oshodi-Abule Egba BRT lane.
All these and more have contributed to the great transformation of the state’s fortunes and further strengthening its position as the Centre of Excellence in Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu has obtained a variety of awards in his career including the MARKETING EDGE OUTSTANDING POLITICAL BRAND ICON OF THE YEAR Award; Leadership Newspaper Governor of the Year 2021; Vanguard Personality of the Year; Platinum award from the Lagos State Public Service Club; Best in Human Capital Development award from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). Merit award from the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria; Merit award from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Nigeria (CIPMN); Merit Award from the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN); LSDPC Impactful Leadership and Recognition Award amongst a myriad of other notable feats.
Some of his other notable public sector achievements include the supervision of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) privatization projects. He set up and was the Pioneer Board Chairman of Lagos Security Trust Fund. The LAGBUS System and the Control & Command Centre in Alausa were subsequently established under his directives.
Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is a Nigerian politician and the current Governor of Lagos State. He became governor under the platform of the All-Progressives Congress.
He is a graduate of the University of Lagos, as well as the London Business School, Lagos Business School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Before his gubernatorial ambition, he was the managing director and CEO of Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSPDC).
Sanwo-Olu has a B.SC in Surveying and an MBA from the University of Lagos. He is an alumnus of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, the London Business School and the Lagos Business School. He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD).
