ADVAN set up committees to drive new vision
In a bid to make the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) more relevant and value driven, the leadership of the association has inaugurated five different committees and charged them to find creative solution that will provide a more enabling environment for marketing to flourish in Nigeria.
The committees are: Membership and Value Committee, Education and Capacity Building Committee, Stakeholder and Advocacy Committee and Public Sector Engagement Committee.
According to the 1st Vice President of the association Mr. Wasiu Abiola, who gave the welcome address, during the inauguration ceremony in Lagos, said membership of the committee have been drawn from member companies with a charge to provide market driven solutions to deepen the association’s relevance and impact on its members.
Mr. Abiola said the committees’ activities and deliberations will be guided by the overriding theme of ADVAN, which is “To Proactively Create an Empowered Future for the Marcomms Industry Today”.
The committees, which were inaugurated by ADVAN President Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney, are expected to work in line with the four pillars upon which activities of the present Exco and ADVAN will be anchored for the next 2 years, based on the overriding Theme.
The four pillars are: Visionary Thought Leadership (within business and marcoms firmament in Nigeria), Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building (Centre for Excellence learning and capacity building), Stakeholders Engagement (Structured engagement with all relevant stakeholders of ADVAN) and Data Research and Insight (towards use of data to drive value for business).
Speaking at the event, Mr. Abiola said, “After extensive consultation, ADVAN Secretariat came up with a list of reputable and distinguished individuals selected to serve in each of these committees. The list was screened and consequently approved, with Secretariat mandated to reach out to all respectable individuals chosen to serve in each of the committees.
“There is no greater calling than Public service, the Exco on behalf of ADVAN are very grateful to each and every one of you for accepting to serve in the committees. We know that some of the Committees have commenced activities based on terms of reference and we are particularly delighted at the enthusiasm and commitment shown as evidenced in some of the results achieved already, “he said.
Meanwhile some of the committees have already commenced work on their mandate. Abiola revealed during his speech that the ADVAN Centre for Marketing Excellence – a brain child of the Education Committee has secured partnership deal with the following reputable institutions on discounted training for Marketing Practitioners.
The institutions are: Pan African University, National Institute of Marketing in Nigeria (NIMN) and the Metropolitan School of Business and Management in the UK. The trainings are expected to commence in September across these institutions.
