Focus for This Week
This week, Dr Fadolapo will continue the conversation he started last week, as he tackles pressing questions shaping the regulatory landscape. He will speak on the current situation of OOH advertising regulation across the country.
The DG will also respond to concerns about the recent directive issued by Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency, OYSAA requesting all stakeholders to submit gaming and lottery adverts for vetting before exposure in Oyo State.
Additional Segments
Alongside the interview, viewers will enjoy Brand News and Brand in Focus, both delivering market intelligence, industry trends and exclusive conversations with major players. Over the years, MARKETING EDGE ONTV has continued to set the agenda for the Nigerian marketing and advertising ecosystem.
His Reformative Drive
Dr Fadolapo, widely recognised for his reformative journey and his ongoing push to reposition the advertising space, continues to reiterate that regulation is not designed to strangulate the sector.
Instead, he maintains that regulatory efforts aim to stabilise the industry, ensure sanity and place the ecosystem on the right growth trajectory.
His leadership has produced major advances, including the ARCON Act 2022, local content directives and digital advertising regulations, all geared towards putting the industry in proper perspective for collective progress.
He brings a distinguished academic and professional track record. He holds a PhD in Marketing Communications, three master’s degrees, and fellowships in accounting, marketing and advertising.
Summary of Last Week’s Conversation
Last week, Dr Fadolapo briefly clarified the two conflicting Federal High Court judgments on ARCON’s authority over Out of Home advertising. He explained that the Lagos judgment favored local government control based on the Fourth Schedule, while the Lokoja judgment upheld ARCON’s regulatory powers using the Second Schedule of the Constitution.

He stressed that adopting the Lagos ruling nationwide would create chaos for advertisers, who would be forced to submit materials to 774 local governments. He maintained that ARCON’s position aligns with the Lokoja judgment, which places trades, commerce and professional practices on the Exclusive Legislative List.
Looking Ahead
Last week’s conversation set the stage for a deeper discussion this week, as Dr Fadolapo returns to address sector reactions, clarify regulatory realities and respond to emerging concerns across the country.
