We will revitalise PRCAN Together – Ali-Balogun
Chairman of the NIPR Council Committee on Revitalization of PRCAN, Dr. Nkechi Ali-Balogun has reiterated her Committee’s resolve to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) gets the needed bounce to achieve its mandate.
In line with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Public Relations Consultancy Practice Bye-Law No. 3 of 1993, NIPR’s Governing Council dissolved PRCAN’s Executive Committee at its 117th Meeting held Thursday, December 19, 2024.
After the committee’s inauguration by the President/Chairman of Council of the NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku , Ali-Balogun, who is a Fellow and a former Council member of NIPR, assured members of the noble profession that her committee will consult widely to aggregate thoughts that would serve the committee’s mandates.
The Committee, whose mandate runs till April 30, 2025, is tasked with the development and execution of a short-term action plan towards greater efficiency of PRCAN, in line with the vision of the current leadership of the NIPR for a strong and effective PRCAN. It is also mandated that an election be conducted for PRCAN leadership during this period.
In her communication with PRCAN members on Monday, the former Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of NIPR affirmed that her team is committed to the objectives of the transition and its aftermath, and this development “no doubt presents a unique opportunity for our association to be revitalised and strengthened.
“I want to reassure you that my commitment to PRCAN remains unwavering. My goal is to work collaboratively with the outgoing executives, the incoming executives and all stakeholders to ensure that PRCAN continues to thrive and grow”.
She further explained that her decision to accept the role “was motivated by a desire to ensure continuity and stability. The Institute’s decision to appoint someone from within our ranks demonstrates its commitment to transparency and confidence in our collective abilities. I am committed to working with each member to address any concerns, build trust, propel our association forward and make this transition as smooth and beneficial as possible for all stakeholders”.
Ali-Balogun thanked members who have offered to serve on the transition committee and admonished them to offer their best for the growth of the Public Relations profession in Nigeria.
“Our committee’s primary objective is to ensure a seamless transition, address any outstanding issues, forge a common cause, sustain membership, conduct an election, and set the stage for the incoming executive to build upon our collective achievements. I urge all committee members to put in their best so we can achieve this task within the time frame given to us by the Council”, Ali-Balogun emphasized.
She commended the outgoing PRCAN Executives led by Mr. Israel Jaiye Opayemi for their “selfless service, dedication and hard work during their tenure. Your contributions to PRCAN have been invaluable, and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to work alongside such a talented and passionate team”.
Members of the 12-member Committee on the revitalization exercise include Barr. Karibi George, fnipr (Vice Chairman), Dr. Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr, Hajia Lami Tumaka, fnipr, Mr. Chido Nwakanma, mnipr and Mr. Hassan Abdul, mnipr . Others include Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, mnipr, Mr. Adetola Odusote, mnipr, Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, mnipr, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, anipr and Ms. Mojisola Saka, anipr. Dr. Oludare Ogunyombo, mnipr will serve as the Secretary for the Committee.
