DDB Lagos, Noah’s Ark make Epica shortlist
Two top Nigerian agencies are in the running for honours at the forthcoming EPICA award. DDB Lagos and Noah’s Ark made the final cut according to an announcement by the organisers of the award in Paris France.
DDB Lagos was shortlisted two times with the Interswitch “Dreams” Campaign, while Noah’s Ark Communications Limited got shortlisted with Airtel, smartSPEEDOO “Lost”.
MARKETING EDGE gathered exclusively that BBDO WEST AFRICA, a second line agency to DDB Lagos and Up In The Sky NG narrowly missed out on the shortlist cut off point.
In all six African agencies were shortlisted, including the Nigerian agencies. They are Advantage Y&R of Namibia, FP7/CAI of Egypt, Joe Public United from South Africa and Net#work BBDO also based in South Africa.
According to the organizers of the award, 3350 entries from 71 countries were received, down on the previous year due to a lack of entry from Publicis and a lower participation by WPP agencies.
The finalists will go through to the grand jury, which meets in Berlin, Germany, 13–15 November 2017. Gold and Grand Prix winners will be awarded during a ceremony at the Meistersaal concert hall on the evening of 16 November. Silver and Bronze winners will be published on the Epica Awards website the next day, 17 November.
The Epica jury is composed of editors and senior reporters from the world’s leading magazines covering creativity and communications. They are supported by an online jury of 200 journalists from specialists’ titles in fields such as post-production, VR, design, luxury and fashion.
In 2016, Insight Publicis won Nigeria’s first ever gold at Epica. However the agency has declined to send in entries for this year’s edition in compliance with Publicis Groupe award hiatus.
