Soulcomm Prioritises Capacity Building
As 2017 kicks off in the Marketing communications industry, stakeholders appear to be ready for the task ahead. 2016 was daunting given stringent economic situation that made most client reduce their spend. For most practitioners in the field, though clients operations are not yet in full flight, when they are called upon, it behoves on them to be ready. They know more will be required of them as brands jostle to retain or increase their equity amidst tight competition.
The above view was shared by Mojisola Saka, Chief Operating Officer of Soulcomms. In a brief chat with Marketing Edge at her office, she said though client activities have not fully hit top gear, the agency is prepared to meet clients’ demands more than ever before. She acknowledged that as the year unfolds, the game will be taken to a new height and the company is well positioned for the challenge.
To be a relevant solution provider in the present day marketing world, agencies are waking up to the need to improve their skillset and competences. Mojisola said this is one of the major objectives of Soulcomm this year. According to her, clients are demanding more value for less spend. No client will employ an agency and still want to end up doing the job it already paid for. “There are agencies you employ and you still end up doing the job for them. We don’t operate with that type of mentality,” She noted.
To this end, she stated that the company puts employee empowerment on the front burner by sponsoring member staff on trainings and programmes that will further enrich their working skills. “The bar has been raised. To meet up and maintain relevance, there’s need for innovative and creative thinking and this comes with self-development. So this year, the agency wants to further invest in its staff.
“It began last year with a beneficiary of the company’s employee empowerment programme. She was sponsored oversees for training. We have not added to the figures, but we want to improve on the quality of staff we have. To make sure they are further equipped to deliver on the present market demand.”
Also noticeable in the company’s serene environment is a small but very commendable employee assistance programme; a baby crèche. For the company’s nursing mothers, knowing their child is close by and in good hands can improve productivity.
