Marcom expert emerge first Nigerian to compete in Mrs World Pageantry

Rei Obaigbo, a marketing communications expert and beauty queen has made history as the first Nigerian and West African to make it to the semifinals of the Mrs World beauty pageant, a keenly contested yearly beauty pageant for married women introduced in 1984.
Rei, who emerged winner of the 2021 edition of Mrs. Nigeria in March, joined other beauty queens at the global stage for the 2022 edition of the Mrs World Pageant which was held in Las Vegas, USA as the first Nigerian to compete in the Mrs World Pageant. The beauty queen now joins a host of other resilient and determined Nigerians putting Nigeria on the global map as she was also crowned Mrs Africa World at the recently concluded global pageantry.
Commenting on her historic achievement in an interview with MARKETING EDGE, Rei revealed that for her, representing Nigeria in the best light while in pursuit of happiness is empowering.
“Nigerians like Tobi Amusan, Chimamanda, Tems, and so many others have set a new standard on what fulfilment and achievement is about, and they have shown that it is about authenticity and passion,” she said.
Urging Nigerians to continually strive for greatness regardless of economic circumstances and challenges, the beauty queen advised: “We should never sacrifice our dreams and passion, and even our cultural identities.”
“And there is nothing more fulfilling than starting a journey and finding others who are inspired by your journey to start theirs, and inspiring them even more,” she pointed.
Rei, who is also the CEO of OREIME group and President of FIBIACI Nigeria Young Members council, maintained that there is nothing more fulfilling than starting a journey and finding others who are inspired by your journey to start theirs, and inspiring them even more.
“I am inspired and empowered by those around me who I see setting new milestones or being motivated to do even better. I do hope to have more reasons and opportunities to pursue my different passions without negative limitations. I also hope to inspire more young women to aspire for more, to hold the African culture high and take pride in their history. I feel like my desire to do better than myself yesterday goes beyond just self development.”
