Huawei tasks telcos on customer experience

Telecommunication operators have been urged to adequately improve on providing qualitative services that would give their subscribers great customer experiences.

The company said that the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry has the potential to fuel economic growth in Nigeria and other African countries, noting that when the customers are well satisfied, it is a pointer to getting new value-driven growth.

The Chief Technology Officer of Huawei’s Carrier Network Business Group, Paul Scanlan, disclosed this at the AfricaCom, a pan-African technology, telecoms and media event in Abuja.

“The ICT industry can play a crucial role in fuelling new growth in Africa through increased economic activity, innovation and productivity”, he said.

He noted that with a fast growing population, the ICT demands in Nigeria and other African countries were far from being met.

The firm stated that latest statistics from the International Telecommunication Union showed that proportion of households with Internet access in Africa for 2017 was 18 per cent, while fixed-broadband subscriptions per 100 inhabitants in Africa for 2016 was 0.26 per cent.
