Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week begins Friday
Heineken, a premium larger beer brand, is partnering with Red Door Gallery to host the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week from March 31 to April 2, 2017 at the Red Door Gallery, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event with the theme: “Identity” is expected to explore how fashion and dress is expressed in the Nigerian society and how the difficulties of producing locally, affect the fashion industry, with the aim of finding possible solutions to resolve it.
On Friday, which is the first day of the occasion, guests are expected to have the opportunity to meet and interact with the various designers who present their Autumn/Winter Collections 2017 in the session tagged: “Meet the Designers”.
The session will afford the guests a chance to rob minds with the designers as they share intricacies behind their Autumn/Winter Collection and their interpretation of the theme of the event.
Speaking about the forth-coming #HeinekenLFDW, one of the designers, Akosua Afriye-Kumi, described the theme of the Fashion Week “Identity” as meaning the qualities that makes you unique, noting that the event is going to be a memorable avenue for all fashion lovers to have a fun-filled experiences.
The high point of the occasion will be the screening of “Eko for Show History of Lagos Fashion” a fashion documentary produced by Bolaji Kekere-Ekun, Francesca Tiller-Gyado, and Sesu Tiller Gyado.
The fashion film will explore the origin of Lagos Fashion, the traditional fabrics such as Adire and Aso-Oke and the historical events that shaped the ever evolving Lagos fashion scene into what it has become today.
