The Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) has paid tribute to the life and legacy of John Ajayi, publisher and founder of Marketing Edge Publications, who passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

In a press release, the association expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with Ajayi’s family and members of staff, describing news of his death as a “profound shock” to many within and beyond the marketing and communications industry.

In a statement signed by EXMAN President, Tolulope Medebem, she described Ajayi as more than a publisher, but a “titan in the Nigerian marketing and communications industry.” She noted that his contributions went far beyond reporting, positioning him as a strong advocate for the stability, professionalism, and long-term growth of the sector.

According to Medebem, Ajayi’s relentless passion for journalism and his unwavering support for the development of brands and agencies left an indelible mark on the profession. In honour of his passing, Medebem, alongside the EXMAN Vice President, Angela Makinwa, paid a condolence visit to Ajayi’s office. During the visit, they met with members of his team and some of his children, offering words of encouragement and urging the staff to remain resolute in sustaining the values and vision he built over the years.

During his lifetime, John Ajayi was widely regarded as a passionate industry writer who used his pen to bridge gaps between ideas and people. He had a rare ability to simplify complex issues, connect diverse perspectives, and amplify conversations that might otherwise have remained unheard. His writing did more than inform. It shaped industry thinking, fostered understanding, and strengthened relationships among stakeholders.

Ajayi’s legacy stands as one defined by insight, empathy, and intellectual honesty, qualities that will continue to influence Nigeria’s marketing and communications landscape for years to come.
